All trash and recycling must be placed inside the toters for collection by Waste Management. Please break down boxes and place them inside the recycle toter. Items outside of the toters will not be collected unless it is a specified bulk item collection day. On Monday, August 12, 2019, Waste Management will continue to collect old trash cans. Please clearly mark them with a sign that says "Trash - Please Take" so that the driver knows to remove them.
The City of Dexter will be taking over the responsibility of hiring and training school crossing guards within the City. During a one year pilot program, a crossing guard will be stationed at the rapid flashing beacons that will be installed at Ann Arbor St/Kensington and Baker Rd at the pedestrian island. Hours will be approximately 7:45 am to 8:15 am and 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm for the Ann Arbor Street crossing and 7:30 am to 8 am and 2:50 pm to 3:20 pm for the Baker Road crossing. Crossing guards will earn $13.50 an hour.
City Offices will be open Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 9 am to 5 pm to process absentee ballot requests for the Washtenaw Intermediate School District Millage Election on August 6, 2019. The final day to request a ballot is Monday, August 5, 2019 from 9 am to 4 pm, however the ballot must be requested in-person and voted at the City Office. It is against State of Michigan election law for the Clerk to give an absentee ballot over the counter to someone other than the person whose name is on the ballot.

WHY: Preventative maintenance – chip seal
The City of Dexter has been notified that Waste Management did not complete trash collection today, including in the Westridge neighborhood; and did not complete recycling collection, including in the Huron Farms neighborhood. Waste Management will be back tomorrow, Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 7 am to collect any trash and recycling that was not picked up today. Impacted residents are asked to leave their trash and recycling out until collection on Tuesday.
Please do not allow grass clippings to blow into the street when mowing your lawn. These clippings travel into our storm sewer system which can cause the drains to clog. If you have a landscaping company that mows your lawn please pass this information along to them.
Washtenaw County Road Commission Message - Work on Joy Rd
Crack seal work in Huron Farms, Dexter Crossing and the Industrial Park, will begin the week of July 22nd (weather permitting). This work is not expected to have a significant impact on residents or commuting traffic; some areas may be coned off temporarily as the crack seal cures. Please proceed carefully through work zones
As part of the Wastewater Treatment Plant project, the connection between the Westridge sewer lift station and the Plant is being relocated. The work to attach the new line will be completed on July 24th and July 25th. During this time, residents in Westridge will see two vactor trucks parked at the lift station on Eastridge. This work will not impact sewer service.
In an effort to protect our aquifers, conserve water resources, and control our peak hour water demand, the City of Dexter is continuing to enforce outdoor watering restrictions.
