Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2nd Annual Paint Dexter Plein Air Festival. We appreciate the community's efforts to make the 72 artists feel welcome as they painted around Dexter. The festival was a great success because of the talented artists and the support of the community.
The Planning Commission is seeking one new member. The Planning Commission meets the first Monday of each month at 7:30 pm and is a 9 member commission of Village residents that is responsible for the creation and adoption of a master plan, which is a long range plan for the physical development of the Village of Dexter. The plan is reviewed and or revised every 5 years. The Commission also is responsible for holding required public hearings on changes to the zoning ordinance and recommending the boundaries of zoning districts.
A hawker/peddler permit to go door-to-door in the Village between the hours of 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. has been issued to Clean Water Action. The permit is good until October 31, 2014.
The Village was chosen by the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) to receive a two week "Pop-Up" Display of three DIA masterpieces. The pieces are located in Mill Creek Park, Monument Park and on the outside of the Dexter District Library. An opportunity to learn more about the paintings is available on Saturday, August 16. A docent led art walk will be starting from the Monument Park painting at 10 am as part of the Paint Dexter Plein Air Festival.
