Archaeology Day at Gordon Hall

October 19, 2019 11:00 am

Join the Dexter Area Historical Society & Museum (DAHS) at Gordon Hall in Dexter (8311 Island Lake) for a public Archaeology Day on Saturday October 19 from 11 am to 2 pm.  Students from the University of Michigan Archaeological Field Methods class will share their methods and their discoveries as they perform excavations at several sites around the grounds of Gordon Hall. They will be looking for artifacts that will illuminate the lives of the people who have lived there, from the time the house was built in 1843 to the present. Excavations will be open to visitors from 11-1 pm, followed by public presentations by the students and tours of Gordon Hall by docents from the Dexter Area Historical Society (DAHS) until 2 pm. This event is sponsored by DAHS and the University of Michigan Museum of Anthropological Archaeology. For more information call 734-426-2519, or visit the DAHS website: www.dexterhistory.org/upcoming-events or Facebook page: www.facebook.com/dexterhistory. The event is free of charge.
