Phone Scam Warning

July 20, 2017

The City of Dexter has been notified by a resident that he received a call from a scammer claiming to be selling insurance. The scammer is imitating the City of Dexter's phone number (734-426-8303), causing Caller ID devices to incorrectly identify that the call is coming from the City. If you receive a call like this and are not sure whether the call is actually coming from the City of Dexter, do not provide any personal information, end the call, and call 734-426-8303 to verify that the call is legitimately coming from the City.

The City of Dexter will never attempt to sell you something over the phone, nor will the City demand any personal information, credit card numbers, or bank routing numbers. All utility bill and tax payments may be mailed to the City of Dexter (8140 Main St.), submitted online (http://www.dextermi.gov), dropped off in-person at the City of Dexter Offices (8123 Main St., 2nd Floor) or placed into the drop box at 8140 Main (near the entrance to the Sheriff's Substation).
