The Village recently renewed our contract with Waste Management for trash/recycle/compost collection. The contract was renewed with no increase in year one, a 1% increase in year 2 and a 2% increase in year 3. Below is a summary of a few changes that were made with the renewal:
Recycling can now be placed in a container of the resident's choice. If you choose a container other than a green recycle bin it needs to be marked with a sticker, which can be picked up at the Village Offices (8123 Main) or requested via mail by sending an e-mail to email@example.com or calling 734-426-8303 x17.
Each residence can now put out one bulk item per week. No special arraignments are necessary.
Residents are encouraged to bundle their brush so that it can be hauled away by Waste Management. If you are unable to bundle the brush or have branches larger than 4" in diameter please contact the Village Office (734-426-8303) so it can be picked up by the Department of Public Works. Brush/compost pick-up by Waste Management will begin April 5.
A flyer with more information will be mailed to all residences the week of April 1. It can also be viewed on the website at - http://dextermi.gov/trash-recycling-and-yard-waste-collection

- Applications are being accepted for the tree replanting effort in late April. Tree samples and site evaluation consultation will be available.
- Applications are being accepted for lawn/glass remediation problems.
- Volunteers are invited to sign up for the replanting. Help is needed and teams are being sought.

- Games will be led by Dexter High School students.
- Video booth will be available for storytelling.
So many people were affected, both directly and indirectly, by the storm, that we know it will go down in the collective memory of Dexter. In spite of the hardship of the people whose homes and lives were so impacted, the lesson so many have learned is that we benefit from and survive because of the support of our friends, family and neighbors, and so it is in this spirit of celebration that everyone is invited to stop by LaFontaine on Friday, March 15, between 3pm and 7pm.
