Hudson Mills Master Plan Open House, 10:15am-12pm

Hudson Mills Metropark is in the beginning stages of forming a master plan for development. Each member of the Dexter community is a stakeholder in our Metroparks and their development.  Hudson Mills considers the input of its stakeholders to be a critical aspect of its planning. This public meeting will be an opportunity for stakeholders to learn about the master plan and share their opinions about the future of the park.

To ensure a comfortable atmosphere for learning and sharing information, this will be a strolling/drop-in style meeting, without any formal presentations. Attendees are encouraged to bring their children/grandchildren, as Hudson Mills plans to have an activity in which they can participate.

Can't make the meetings?  The Metroparks have provided an opportunity through an online survey. Share your opinions, hopes, and desires regarding the parks at  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/hudsonmillsmp

The Dexter Community School District is discussing entering into a contract with Adams Outdoor to place electronic billboards on school property. One location would be Baker Road between Dan Hoey and Shield, which is in Scio Township. The other location would be near the entrance driveway to Mill Creek Middle School which is in the City of Dexter. Though an electronic billboard would not be permitted in accordance with the City Zoning Ordinance, school districts are exempt from following local zoning ordinances. The School Board will be discussing this topic at their upcoming meetings. Please visit http://www.dexterschools.org/page.cfm?p=507 for their meeting schedule. Comments and questions should be directed to Dr. Chris Timmis, Superintendent at timmisc@dexterschools.org.

Over the past year, the City has been working with Foremost Development to determine whether they were the right development partners for the project at 3045 Broad. Three open forums were held to review concept plans for the site with the public. Unfortunately despite a good working relationship with Foremost, we were unable to come to terms to move forward with the development. The 3045 Broad Redevelopment Committee will meet in January 2017 to determine the next steps for this project.

We would like to thank all of the residents and members of the public that participated in the open forums.  Your input was a valuable part of the process.

Please shovel the snow onto your property. It is against City Ordinance to shovel the snow into the street or onto a neighbor's property.

We also request that you please help the fire department by making sure that fire hydrants around your home or business are cleared of snow, accessible and visible from the street as soon as possible after a snow storm. Every second counts in an emergency situation.

Bagged compost pick up by Waste Management ended Saturday, November 26, 2016. If you still have bags, they can be dropped off into compost dumpsters located at 7651 Dan Hoey (next to the Community Garden). The dumpsters will be there from Friday, December 2, 2016 to Monday, December 12, 2016.

Leaf pick up in the City is on-going. In past years the last day of leaf pick up would be in early December, however due to leaves falling later in the season we will be continuing to pick up piles likely for another one to two weeks. We thank you for your patience as we move through the neighborhoods.
