Please be reminded that before any work is done or materials are temporarily stored in a City right of way, a right of way permit is needed. The width of the right of way varies throughout the City. In the original village area it is a total of 99 feet wide, including the roadway. In the newer neighborhoods, it is generally a total of 60 feet wide including the roadway. In areas with sidewalks, the right of way includes the area between the sidewalk and the curb. In areas without sidewalks, it includes the area from the property line to the road. The permit is required to make sure that the work conforms with the City Engineering Standards and to make sure that the area is properly restored to the condition it was in before the work. For more information on obtaining a permit, please call the City Office at 734-426-8303. The form can be accessed online at http://dextermi.gov/node/144

The following is information provided by the Washtenaw County Road Commission:

Starting Tuesday, April 10, 2018, Dancer Road will be closed to all traffic under I-94 near Jackson Road in Lima Township. The road will be closed for approximately two weeks to allow MDOT to complete bridge repairs on I-94.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will complete bridge repairs on eastbound I-94 over Dancer Road in Dexter. This work is part of an overall $1 million investment in critical repairs to eight structures throughout Washtenaw, Eaton, Ingham, and Jackson counties.

Work will require closing one lane on eastbound I-94 over Dancer Road while beam repairs are completed. While one lane will remain open to motorists, this closure is expected to cause 30 to 60-minute delays during peak travel times. Motorists are advised to find an alternate route if able.

If you have any questions concerning this road closure, please contact Wendy Ramirez at MDOT, RamirezW@michigan.gov. For more information about WCRC road closures visit www.wcroads.org/news/media-advisories.
