The City of Dexter has been notified that a Dexter City Council Member position will be vacated on October 22, 2018. City Council is required by City Charter to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the term, which ends in November of 2020.
The City Council Member position is a non-partisan position, and candidates must meet the following qualifications to hold City Office:
· Must be a resident of the City of Dexter for a minimum of one year.
Jeffords Road from the alley (behind the PNC/Hackney Hardware) to the corner of Forest and Broad will be closed starting October 11, 2018. The road is expected to remain closed until November 8, 2018. The roadway will be open on Sundays during the closure. The alley (behind the PNC/Hackney) will remain open.
The contractor for the 2018 sidewalk project will be back in the community tomorrow (Thursday, October 11, 2018) to make some necessary repairs to the intersection ramps listed below. Please proceed with caution through project areas.
Dexter Community Schools is conducting traffic and pedestrian counts on Dan Hoey between Baker and Ann Arbor Street and on Baker between Dan Hoey and Hudson. The counts are done with cameras that are mounted to sign posts. The data collection is expected to be completed by October 15, 2018.
Leaf pick-up by the Department of Public Works (DPW) will begin the week of October 8, 2018. Please park cars as far away from leaf piles as possible. It is also very important to make sure that there is no debris in the leaf piles (garbage, sticks, etc). The leaves should be piled as close to the curb as possible and not placed into the road, ditches, storm drains or parking places. The closer the piles are to the curb, the quicker they are able to be collected by the equipment.
