The City and the Huron River Watershed Council would like to make residents and businesses aware of health concerns that have been raised from the use of coal tar based sealants. Coal tar contains chemicals called polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) which have been identified as a probable human carcinogen. Coal tar can be found in the sealants used on asphalt driveways and parking lots. The City of Dexter has passed an ordinance banning the use of coal tar based sealants.
The City of Dexter will be hosting the 2016 General Primary Election on Tuesday, August 2, 2016.
The CIty Office will be open on Saturday, July 30, 2016 from 9am - 2pm to receive absentee ballots.
The new Lions Park playground at the corner of Edison St. and Ann Arbor St. is now open for play. Please notethat the black silt fence will need to remain in place for the time being. Please avoid jumping over, pulling on, or tearing the black silt fence.
The Dexter Farmers Market will be open on Saturdays from 8am - 1pm, and Tuesdays from 2pm - 6pmthrough October 29th.
Washtenaw County's 81 warning sirens (including those in the City of Dexter) will be tested on Saturday, August 6th at noon. If there is a threat of severe weather on the day of a test, it will be cancelled.
Re-striping of roadways and parking lots throughout the City will begin on Sunday, July 17, 2016 (weather permitting). A majority of the work will be completed on Sunday due to the lower traffic volumes.
Highway Maintenance will be sweeping streets/curb lines in the project area tomorrow starting at 8 am. Please remove cars from the street where possible so that they can access the edge of the roadway.
