Paint Dexter Plein Air Festival will be held August 13-17. This event is an opportunity for open air painters to paint on canvasses around Dexter. The paintings will be juried and prizes will be awarded. The art will also be available for purchase. Artists are encouraged to apply early to take advantage of early bird registration rates.
A call for artists has been issued for a "friendly troll" sculpture that will be placed along the Border to Border Trail that crosses Mill Creek.
The Village recently renewed our contract with Waste Management for trash/recycle/compost collection. The contract was renewed with no increase in year one, a 1% increase in year 2 and a 2% increase in year 3. Below is a summary of a few changes that were made with the renewal:

In honor of the resilience of the Dexter community following the tornado of last March, the Dexter Relief Fund committee, with the help of many organizations across the community, is hosting an Open House on Friday, March 15, from 3pm to 7pm at LaFontaine Automotive. At this event:
The Washtenaw County Emergency Operations Center will be conducting a test of 55 outdoor warning sirens on Saturday March 2, 2013 at 12:00 Noon. These sirens are tested at Noon on the first Saturday of every month from March through September. If there is a threat of severe weather on the day of a test, it will be cancelled. Except for scheduled testing, the sirens will be activated for the following emergencies: 1.) The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning. 2.) A severe thunderstorm has been detected with damaging winds in excess of 70 MPH.
