Zoning Board of Appeals

Pursuant to Michigan Public Act 110 of 2006, as amended, notice is hereby given that the City of Dexter Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, November 20, 2017.  The hearing will take place at the Dexter Senior Center, 7720 Ann Arbor Street, Dexter, Michigan.  The purpose of hearing is to take public comments regarding the following variance application:

  • The applicant, Curtis M. Brochue, on behalf of the Washtenaw County Road Commission, is seeking a variance from Article XX, Schedule of Regulations, Section 20.01 Schedule of Regulations for Principal Buildings-Residential, Front Yard Setback in the R-1A One Family Residential- Large Lot District, as follows:
    • A 4.4-foot variance from the 25-foot required front yard setback for an existing structure, located at 2505 Baker Road (08-08-06-400-018), due to a proposed taking of private property for public use.

If the variance is granted, a 20.6-foot front yard setback would be allowed, thus creating a legal non-conformity would be created for said property.

The application is available for public inspection at the City Offices, 8123 Main Street, 2nd Floor, Dexter, MI 48130; weekdays between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  The application can also be viewed by clicking here. Interested parties are welcome to attend the public hearing and present their comments.  Written comments regarding the proposal should be submitted to the Office of Community Development at the address listed above or via email to, and must be received no later than 5:00 p.m., Monday, November 13, 2017.
